Lenexa Turns 100! Ecumenical Camp Meeting Re-enactment
In 2007, the City of Lenexa celebrated its 100th anniversary. Vintage Nouveau – Fashions From the Past was asked to costume over 130 volunteers in appropriate clothing for 1907. (Please see the detailed costume guide under my Published Works button.) The committee in charge of the event chose to do a re-enactment of an old-time church revival tent meeting. Such revival tent meetings were popular in little Midwest towns like Lenexa during those years, and provided much entertainment and energy to the community.
Vintage Nouveau – Fashions From the Past also provided several professional re-enactors to help lead the story line. To read more about it, see In The News button for an article by the Kansas City Star.
Special thanks go to Victorian Trading Company, headquartered in Lenexa, for their generous support. Many of their beautiful costumes were provided to the event at a great discount, and helped to make this such a success.
Following are some fun and dramatic photos of the tent revival re-enactment.
