Gold Rush

Bonnie Hansen in her Gold Rush Days costume August 28, 2011.

Located along the beautiful Sacramento River, “Old Sacramento” is a unique 28-acre National Historic Landmark District and State Historic Park.  Recalling the times of the California Gold Rush, the area is packed with exciting shopping, dining, entertainment, historical attractions and world-renowned museums.

Bonnie Hansen is currently planning a special program to add to that already colorful atmosphere in an extraordinary way.  Here is a picture of Bonnie in her Gold Rush Days costume.  Click on picture to view an enlargement.

A Little Fashion on the Prairie:
Kansas Pioneer Fashion in Contemporary Journal Readings

Just in time for the Kansas 150th anniversary celebration, Vintage Nouveau – Fashions From the Past presents a look back at women’s clothing in early Kansas.

Costumed fashion historian Bonnie Hansen will read from journals and letters penned by pioneer women, describing the fashion challenges of the day.  Were women concerned with looking up to date on the wild frontier?  You’ll be surprised at just how fashion-conscious they were!
